Meet Marda Wallace

Marda Wallace is a life-long West Tennessean, born in South Fulton, earned a degree from UT Martin, moved to Jackson in 1982 and is a 25-year resident of District 7. She is married to Bryan and they have two wonderful sons: Tyler and Will.

Marda is a highly successful businesswoman; she established herself as a top 10 Executive Account Representative with the top two legal reference material corporations. Marda used her skills at negotiating, budget analysis, and developing innovative solutions to help Fortune 500 companies acquire the latest legal reference materials to allow their companies to thrive and reach their long-term goals. She achieved the distinction of being in the Honors Club (top 10% of Account Executives in the country) while at Commercial Clearing House (CCH) and the Presidents Club (top 10 Account Executives in the country) at the Bureau of National Affairs (BNA).

As Marda was thriving in her career, she was also giving back as a passionate leader in our community. She was: President, Treasurer and Fund-Raising Chair for the Jackson Service League; President and Fund-Raising Chair of the USJ Academic Support Group; Board Member of the Therapy and Learning Center (formally the Cerebral Palsy Center); Case Worker for the Carl Perkins Child Abuse Center; and President and Fund-Raising Chair for the Jackson Cotillion Club.

A few years ago, Marda took time off from the corporate world to devote herself to the care of her elderly parents and raising her two sons. That full plate did not reduce her passion for service. During this time, she continued her involvement with the community by being active in the Willow Green Homeowners Association, Jackson Garden Club, and serving as a board member for Aspell Recovery Center.Marda is now ready to focus her considerable leadership skills and her passion for our community on setting and reaching goals that advance the concerns of District 7 and move all of Jackson FORWARD TOGETHER.

FORWARD TOGETHER is more than just a tag line for Marda. She envisions our mayors, city council, county commission and school board working collaboratively to accomplish more: moving FORWARD TOGETHER.

Having lived in District 7 for 25 years, Marda has witnessed firsthand the importance of maintaining an infrastructure that will support and encourage the population growth. Carefully researched decisions must be made in accordance with the city’s existing Master Plan which considers land use, environmental impact, roads & transportation, green space, recreational areas, and public safety. The growth of our downtown has interjected a renewed enthusiasm in that area. Marda shares this enthusiasm and will work to bring improvement to the roads, green spaces, and accessibility of District 7.

The growth and prosperity of Jackson is dependent on our ability to cultivate a multi-skilled and diverse workforce. Jackson is blessed to be home to educational institutions that cover college prep, trade, technology, business, and medical training. Marda will work across district lines and rally the community to ensure all children have opportunities for education and skill development to fully participate in Jackson's growth.

The long term growth and sustainability of any community is dependent on fiscally responsible leaders. Marda will work to make sure our tax dollars are not just taking care of immediate needs, but being strategically used to promote and grow Jackson.

What makes a city livable is a combination of many factors that can both attract and retain residents and business. Jackson is doing well in several areas: a diverse economy, access to education from K-12 to highly rated private and public universities, easy access to excellent health care, social, recreational and cultural sites and events, affordable housing, and excellent utility services. Marda will ensure these areas are maintained at a high level while working to improve our traffic, cleanliness, safety, and aesthetics in District 7 as well as throughout Jackson.
